Outlook freezes on first sync for 5-10mins

I don't know if this is on purpose but after logging in using the grommunio account for the first time in Outlook (with a fresh profile) the whole GUI freezes for about 5-10 minutes until the data is synced.

I can see lots of /mapi/emsmdb/?MailboxId=XXX requests on the nginx reverse proxy log which are "basic authed" by the user. This seems to be fine – but shouldn't the GUI be accessible during this sync?

I don't remember that I had a situation like this with normal exchange servers before.

An addition: This does not always happen. Just had another user (same office version (Office 2021 Professional Plus LTSC)) and after adding the user Outlook was responsive immediately.

EDIT: After doing some stuff in Outlook it started freezing too. So this has to do with some initial sync because after some time Outlook works mostly smooth 😎
