bunker Hi all! Does Anyone had success to setup the Windows NEW outlook app with Grommunio in Exchange mode? Always got a prompt to login with a micosoft account.. Any help will be appreciated.
Maridor Hi Bunker, it looks like that M$ is "offical" working on that topic. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/why-cant-i-add-my-exchange-account-in-the-new/5f463f2b-4731-42f2-a6a1-245db90b0e31 I tested outlook (new) on my Desktop and it allows on 3rd party via IMAP, POP and Online Services. Maybe (but i personaly donĀ“t thinks so) it will / could be implemented later?!?!. A short inet reserach bings only the same answer: ....is not supported and will mabye implemented.
WalterH Maridor I tested outlook (new) on my Desktop and it allows on 3rd party via IMAP, POP and Online Service My knowledge about the new Outlook is that the data is downloaded from a Microsoft server (according to which Microsoft also has the access data to your mail account) and the new Outlook is only a remote view of the data that is then stored on a Microsoft server. Can you confirm this?
Maridor Can't confirm. New Outlook only offers diffrent login options. Exchange is listed as an option, but when you choose this option, the new Outlook will attempt to connect to your Microsoft account. If you want to connect to your local Exchange/Grommunio server, it will fail due to the Microsoft online account. segro create a dummy account in grommunio, connect via Outlook iOS App or Outlook new, then delete the account from your device and you'll still see logins from a M$-Cloud IP, which is trying to fetch the mails to their servers. All mails going over their serves, not directly to your Outlook(new or iOS app). so ... be careful... https://www.heise.de/news/Microsoft-krallt-sich-Zugangsdaten-Achtung-vorm-neuen-Outlook-9357691.html https://cert.uni-stuttgart.de/blog/2023-11-14-new-outlook
isol That is also my knowledge. The new Outlook app is primarily a frontend of O365. It can retrieve messages from other accounts also (POP/IMAP) but it then syncs them to O365. A local exchange replacement like Grommunio is not supported and if it were supported, you could still just use O365 directly as all you mails end up there anyway. You can see where this is going, a local mailserver is a thing of the past in the world of Microsoft.
