This is because HX_inet_connect to [localhost]:5000: Connection refused is completely unrelated to admin-api:
port 5000 is served either by gromox-http or gromox-istore depending on the config.
Obviously, your gromox-zcore process, which is serving the php-mapi-module (used by webapp) can't connect to port 5000.

Please check:

systemctl status gromox-http
systemctl status gromox-istore

If gromox-istore doesn't exist as a service, this is not an error - in this case gromox-http embeds its functionality.

Additionally, after following Walter's config-tutorial, it would help to see your gromox.cfg and http.cfg.

Like User @Duese6 I run Debian 13 and had no gromox.cfg. So I created it, chmodded and chowned it and filled it with this line:
x500_org_name = i69dd932c

I grepped the ID out of exchange-section from autodiscover.ini:

restartet gromox-http service, but still

exmdb_client: HX_inet_connect to [localhost]:5000: Connection refused

I did apply these modifications. I run Debian 13 and did not have a gromox.cfg at all so I created it (see earlier post).

Since I run Debian there are no more files to delete than autodiscover.ini. . So all I had to do was to migrate the line: x500_org_name = i69dd932c to gromox.cfg, just as you advised user @Duese6 in that thread and delete autodiscover.ini.

a systemctl restart gromox-http at last but still Error 500 🙁

Ok, istore has a problem. I have a working Debian 12 with older gromox 3.5. There it looks like this:

You have *real* values instead of host_id=my.example.comand default_domain=example.com, don't you?

concerning gromox-http, gromox.cfg should have these entries:

http_listen     = [::1]:10080
http_listen_tls = [::1]:10443

Remove listen_port, listen_ssl_port from http.cfg

If gromox-istore-service is enabled, you, additionally have to set in gromox.cfg:
istore_standalone = 1
and restart gromox-istore, gromox-http + gromox-zcore

Alternatively disable and stop gromox-istore and ommit istore_standalone (or set it to = 0, which is the default)
restart gromox-http and gromox-zcore.

Delete ... in lines 1709, 1734, 1949, they are PHP syntax errors
