creating Outlook Profile fails - username is created as =SMTP:user@domain"

Hi Community,

I have a problem with my outlook 365 (latest update). While opening a mail my outlook crashed.
So I tried to create a fresh outlook profile, but this fails.
I tried to use this manual:

Main problem - the advanced option is gone.
So I only can let create the profile automatically via autodiscover (which is green in my setup)

Problem: During the setup the username is created as "=SMTP:user@domain" - instead of user user@domain.
and the filed is not editable any more.

After asking copilot and chatgpt and trying several hacks in the registry etc .- I'm now writing this post.

Im on the latest community version. Backend 1.17.4 - Database 131

There are two options to try:

go to Control Panel - Mapi or Mapi32 - New Profile - and setup the Outlook profile
try to set this registry values and recreate the Outlook profile:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover
DWORD: ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint
Value = 1

Hi WalterH,
both ways don't succeed. Thats whats chatgpt already told me to do.
After setting the registry key the mail wizard drops without asking for a password.
I will try to reproduce this behaviour with mail prelive domain.

Hi all,
I have the same issue here with a standard Outlook 2021 on Windows.

Outlook crashes (ucrtbase.dll – exception 0xc0000409) when creating a new mail or during account setup.

Version info:

Working: gromox-3.0.60.gde49f52

Failing: 3.0.78.g43dcf2d and 3.0.80.g43dcf2d

Downgrading to 3.0.60.gde49f52 restores normal behavior.

okay - that means any further test from my side won't help because my testdomain is also at the latest version.

Update:
Just tested with gromox-3.0.98.gcf1607e-lp156.21.1 — the issue seems to be fixed! 🎉
Outlook 2021 on Windows now works again:

no crash when creating a new mail,

account setup completes normally.
