Read-Only Filesystem Problem

Hi All,
Mir hat's meinen Grommunio (installiert ab Grommunio-ISO) ziemlich zerlegt.
Das System weigert sich, die Partitionen RW zu mounten - worauf natürlich die Services dann gar keine Lust haben.

Auch spannend: Das Netzwerk-Interface musste ich ebenfalls manuell holen (modprobe virtio_net && ifup eth0)

Alles in Allem ziemlich eklig.

Ich bin eher bei Debian zu Hause - und bräuchte mal kurz nen Tipp, wonach ich noch suchen könnte.

Folgendes habe ich (erfolgreich) gemacht:

XFS habe ich repariert (xfs_repair)
Die vfat partition habe ich repariert
Ich habe mit mount -o remount,rw / die Partition auch wieder sauber ans Laufen bekommen
Services habe ich dann manuell gestartet - es läuft alles wieder.

Trotzdem: das ist natürlich kein Zustand, das nach jedem Reboot so durchspielen zu müssen.

In den gängigen Foren (opensuse, etc.) habe ich nichts gefunden, was bei mir zutreffen würde. Die anderen Installationen, die ich habe sind von /etc/ her weitgehend identisch.

/etc/fstab ist sauber.

Was habe ich übersehen?

Alternative Lösung: Wenn ich das System neu aufsetzen würde: Welche Daten müsste ich rüberkopieren, damit ich keinen Datenverlust habe?

Gibts da ein Vorgehen?

Es gibt unterschiedliche Wege, aber dafür muss alles laufen. Testen kannst Du mal diese Wege.

Und mit Terminal die Geschichten geradebiegen geht nicht?

Hoi Andy,

Naja, dafür müsste ich erstmal wissen, warum der sich weigert die partition RW zu mounten - bisher habe ich aber (noch) nicht herausgefunden, woran es liegt.

Er kann machine-id nicht anlegen - klar: weil das Filesystem Read-Only ist. und dann gehts los.

Müsste eigentlich die "orginale" sein.

Was tatsächlich war ist, dass die /etc/machine-id gefehlt hat.
Ich habe die neu erstellt - mich aber noch nicht getraut, das system neu zu starten!
Könnte das die Ursache sein?

Im Bootvorgang sollte der Kernel das Root FS doch RW mounten, Das funktioniert aber nicht. Sind die Kernel Parameter die der Grub übergibt in Ordnung?

EDIT: Wichtig, das Leerzeichen zwischen /proc/ cmdline weglassen, aber sonst kann ich den Post nicht speichern.

Noch ein Hinweis... ich habe mal nen clone von der maschine gemacht und nach dem erneuten hinzufügen der machine-id ohne netz gebootet - selbes verhalten.

xfs_repair läuft sauber durch - das muss irgendwas suse-spezifisches sein. nur... was?

Ist eher nicht SuSE spezifisch, tausende SuSE Systeme laufen ohne Probleme. Ist eher ein lokales Problem.

Ich mein: Wenn ich die services von Hand hochnehme tut alles. Nur der Reboot ist jeweils halt super nervig....

Ich find einfach ums verblöden nicht, was den stört - der dmesg-log ist relativ unauffällig.
boot.log ist leer.

Den folgenden error konnte ich durch neuerstellen der machine-id zumindest meiner Meinung nach mitigieren:

Update habe ich versucht - leider no cigar.

der library fehler macht mit stutzig.

VMs auf nem NFS - Standard bei Flexpod und allen anderen. Betreiben wir hier seit ₁₅ Jahren so - ohne irgendwelche Probleme.

Hier laufen derzeit ₅₀₀ VMs auf dem Cluster. Vier NFS Storage Systeme..

Wir sehen generell deutlich mehr Probleme mit den CEPH Installationen (meistens ausgelöst durch Fehlmanipulationen, aber ok) als mit NFS.

Also Fehlmanipulationen klingt ja so, als ob der User dann irgendwas gemacht hat, das er nicht hätte machen sollen. Das kann man schlecht als Argument mit aufzählen, denn selbiges könnte auch bei einem NFS Storage passieren. Und klar, kann man VMs auf einem NFS betreiben. Das habe ich auch schon gemacht, mit einem ordentlichen NFS Storage da drunter. Garkeine Frage. Aber "Best Practice" ist es definitiv nicht, sondern es wäre eher ein klassisches Setup. Und ich habe ebenfalls in beiden Varianten mehrere hundert VMs auf dem Cluster betrieben.

Dieser Thread hat mich gerettet.

Meine Symptome nach Update gestern abend:
Netzwerkinterface down, Root-Partition read-only, /boot-Partition nicht gemounted.
journalctl -xeu systemd-udevd.service

/usr/lib/systemd/systemd-udevd: error while loading shared libraries: libsystemd-shared-254.so

Vemutliche Ursache: Update auf halbem Weg misslungen.
/boot-Partition vor Update zu voll (70%), Fehlermeldung ignoriert, reboot gemacht.

So behoben (wie teils schon beschrieben):
mount -a
modprobe virtio_net && ifup eth0
rpm -qa | grep -i 'kernel-default-6'

4 Paket-Versionen gelistet
zypper purge-kernels
grommunio-update update --noreboot
etlichen Fehlermeldungen: udevadm: error while loading shared libraries: libsystemd-shared-254.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

reboot

Dann war alles wieder gut.
