Android autodiscover populates the server hostname with just the domain name

I have a split DNS setup with a local grommunio server. Autodiscover works fine for Windows/Outlook but when I try with the native Android Gmail client it works but populates the server hostname with 'domain.com' rather than 'mail-server.domain.com'. I have the DNS records for autodiscover, autoconfig and the SRV record _autodiscover all pointing to 'mail-server.domain.com'.
It's not a big deal to manually edit the server hostname, but it should be seamless.
Any ideas how to resolve this?

To me, it sounds like you created the three records but forgot to include the server part in at least one of them.

Which protocol you want to use, EAS, IMAP or ...? Which gromox versioin?
For EAS autodiscover works for iOS and Android devices without any issues.

All the A, AAAA, TXT and SRV records are correct as far as I can tell. The A/AAAA records for 'autodiscover', and 'mail' point to the grommunio host IPv4/IPv6 address. The autoconfig CNAME points to 'mail.domain.com' and the '[_tcp.__autodiscover.domain,com]# (underscores not appearing in the text for some reason) points to port 443 and hostname 'mail.domain.com'.

I have a similar issue. Only mobile clients fail.
Try running this on the appliance itself.

PASS='xxx' gromox-dscli -v -e user@domain.com --eas -H https://localhost:10443/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

If you get an error 603 then it's the same issue I'm facing.

fwiw, autodiscover can be a cname like autoconfig which reduces the clutter.

Is the ssl-certificate for all those entries valid?
Did you set a mailconf= TXT entry?

And because you are showing us screenshots of the ms dns mmc snap-in i will also ask about correct external/splitdns entries if applicable?

crpb The two zones I am hosting have the same A/AAAA records as above (mail, autodiscover, autoconfig, _dmarc) and they all point to the same addresses - obviously the domain suffix is different (domain.local & domain.com). The external zone (domain.com) that is hosted externally by my provider has the same IPv6 addresses but the public IPv4 addresses that NAT to the internal IPv4 addresses.
The grommunio host is using the internal DNS name (mail.domain.local). When I check with Outlook (Test Email AutoConfiguration...) it returns the internal hostname for each of the tests.
