My old appliance is damaged and except for mail flow, admin console, IMAP, Exchange connector the system is dead. It was an appliance and it survived the upgrades i was thinking.
Last week i did make a snapshot before i did upgrade to Leap 16.0 and Grommunio 2026.06.1 and i was struggling to get the web interface running with keycloak. And ended up in restoring the appliance to its state before the upgrade.
Then the nightmare started, the user web interface also did not work either, and as my appliance was in the state as of beginning of upgrade. I found out that it broke down a week ago by an other update.
So now I have an appliance where I can connect with Outlook, phone and I can extract mailboxes.
I did now got myself a current appliance (2026.06.1) which I completely configured the 4 mailboxes and everything else.
Now I want to do the following:
- Export the mailboxes on old appliance.
- Import them in new appliance.
This must not be the biggest issue, because I can also connect with outlook and migrate folders and contents with that. It is just 4 mailboxes.
The biggest thing is. The Archive boxes. How can I move them from old to new Appliance?
I have seen a scenario where you just export the database, import it and copy the files. I can also restore the database and files from backup. But there might be some pitfalls because of the version differences between “defect” appliance and “new” appliance.
What is the best scenario? How to migrate the archives?
(The archives are huge compared to the mailbox).
Sincerely thankful for the best solution.
