Thanks for your feedback. Your links are generally pointing to general autodiscover infos, that do not help in our case, as we are providing hosting services, so the primary mail domain of our grommunio server is unused in general.
The autodiscover stuff is unfortunately a general mess across most available mail clients, which is definitely not grommunios fault, nor can you really solve it.
I did several tests with our setup and iOS 15/16 does STILL not do any lookup of SRV record.
Without an existing A/CNAME record pointing to autodiscover.domain.tld and a fiting certificate, there is no dice and iOS keeps asking for servername and username, no matter what else you do.
Now here comes the funny part:
iOS does however support the big players automatic server names lookup. It does not use any standards based autodiscover method but uses some proprietary mechanism, might even be hard coded.
That's the reason why outlook.com, gmail.com and the like are working out of the box.
As this seems to be a dead end for us as hosters, we probably are going the route generate .mobilconf files for our iOS customers, where they get downloaded from our setup instructions.
Not really a super pretty solution, but one that can scale and does not involve managing many, many certificates we dont want to.
Cheers
