Ich denke, wir können wegen der sicherlich zu erwartenden Vielfalt erst mal hier bleiben. Wenn die Komplexität entsprechend ist, dann ist ein entsprechender Thread eher berechtigt.
Ich weiss nicht, wo Du die 180 Sekunden eingestellt hast, die hatte ich auch schon. Wenn Du wenig Provider-Postfächer hast, kannst Du da auch zurückgehen auf 120 oder gar 60 Sekunden. Allerdings triggern lässt sich da nichts, der Server geht da stur die Einstellung durch. Vielleicht ein paar Tips:
/etc/sysconfig/fetchmail (muss nicht, kann aber hilfreich sein)
FETCHMAIL_POLLING_INTERVAL="180" („60“)
FETCHMAIL_FETCHALL="no" (nur, wenn die Emails stehen bleiben sollen)
Fetchmail starten:
systemctl enable fetchmail
systemctl start fetchmail

Da ich eine neue Appliance in der Regel neu installiere und die Nutzdaten übertrage, mach ich das am Ende einer Installation üblicherweise einfach so:
