Rules / Forward the message as attachment is broken

Hi,

I've recently made the switch from Kopano to Grommunio (finally!), and overall it's working well - I'm pretty happy with it so far, though I'm still learning about the new environment.

However, something that is definitely not working (100% reproducible) is the
Rules / "Forward the message as attachment to..." setting in WebApp.

When this rule triggers, the forwarded attachment is either empty or contains what looks like garbled MAPI internal binary data. It doesn’t resemble the original message that was supposed to be attached.

Is this a known bug? Should this feature work?

I don't believe I've misconfigured anything, but since I'm running Grommunio on Debian 12 (so far not a well trodden path) it's possible I’ve missed some required permissions or a tmp directory setup.

I've tried a few different builds of Gromox over the past two weeks, but the behavior hasn't changed. Here's the relevant installation history:

PS: the "redirect the message to" / "forward the message to" seem to work. The difference seems to be that forward changes the Return-Path header while redirect does not. HOWEVER no matter which way the mail is forwarded, it is never in the "Sent" Folder. I think it should be? That is what it was like in Kopano... Not 100% sure about how exchange does this.

didn't look much better here.
i created a rule which "forwards it as an attachment", "forward it the normal way" and "place the original into INBOX" (as otherwise it would never show up in the mailbox) with outlook.,

Yeah, IMHO it should do so. Otherwise this feels like just an rule which would have been processed via postfix and never made it into the mailbox itself or just another mail sent via smtp from another client ...

I didn't find any corresponding server options for such a thing in either delivery, exmdb_local or exmdb_provider (i think it would be in one of those 🙈 )

Maybe @jengelh could shed some light on this?

My knowledge is as follows: 'Rule: Forward the message as an attachment' does not currently work.

Thank you, if it's a known problem then I will just patiently wait for a fix and work around the problem in the meantime.

Regarding: "no matter which way the mail is forwarded, it is never in the "Sent" Folder", I tested the behavior of Microsoft Exchange (Office 365) this morning and it behaves just like Grommunio.

Forwarded-by-Rules Mail in Kopano: in the Sent folder
Forwarded-by-Rules Mail in Grommunio: NOT in the Sent folder
Forwarded-by-Rules Mail in Office 365: NOT in the Sent folder

So I guess this behavior is intentional and not a bug?
