  • Outlook sync problems (a lot of them)

tobiasgoeller I noticed that on the ISO Image provided by Grommunio the PHP Version used is 8.0 whereas on debian the debian version is 8.2. Could this be one possible cause?

The old ISO is SuSE 15.5, now most Appliances are updated to SuSE 15.6 which provides PHP 8.2.

Second point, the Outlook connectivity do not use PHP, Outlook is served only by gromox-http.

Well, did you try to uncheck the "dowload shared folders" and see whether you get new sync errors ?y
Although from your error message in your post, it looks like you have another problem.
Btw, please post error messages in text format so they get to be searchable.

Ok the problem is as followed:
I generate an appointment in the grommunio web interface.
then I get 5 error messages

I am currently experiencing sync issues in Calendar and I suspect this is an Outlook issue. My sync problems started about 10 days ago and the last grommunio update was about 15 days before that, so I expect an Outlook problem for the calendar sync problem.

I cannot believe its an Outlook Error.
I tried it with several Outlook.
Starting with an installation from
grommunio-offline.x86_64-2023.11.3-Build5.1.install.iso
in virtual box
with this everything is ok.
Than update in the web interface.
Now I have the sync errors
Really I did this with different Outlook Versions.
But it is not only in the calendar.
When I start a new E-Mail I get the Sync Errors too.
This is when the mail appears in the folder

the sync problems are the same

I have just been to a customer who uses M365. This problem also occurs with M365! In caching mode the calendar is almost empty (a few entries are displayed) and in online mode all appointments are available. This can therefore not be a grommunio problem.
There will be error messages if the outlook has problems with calendar elements, which Outlook also documents.

We've just migrated around 100 accounts from Kerio to Grommunio and we also see lots of sync issues over the EAS interface. Outlook of course, but e.g. also on Mac if we connect the accounts via Exchange instead of IMAP.
So I'm afraid it's really related to the EAS part of Grommunio.
The latest update from this week doesn't help either.

Also it doesn't only affect the calender, but also mails older than 11-12 months (can't be defined exactly, sometimes two mails from the same day a few months ago behave differently, one loads, the next only shows headers.

Are there any known/supposed workarounds for this?
It's actually quite disappointing how unstable this seems once it's running with more users (as we've had id running with 10 users for a few weeks with no issues).

    EAS is used to sync the mobile devices, currently there are no known issues with EAS. Contact grommunio support.

    Sorry, I cannot understand that this is an Outlook Problem.
    In previous Versions it worked well.
    Now I can do nothing in the WEB Interface.
    When I write a new E-mail:
    Lot of Sync Errors
    When I define a new Appointment
    Lot of Sync Errors
    When I define a new Contact
    Lot of Sync errors
    Is there anybody who uses the WEB interface and Outlook and it works?
    I have the newest version 2025.01.01
    All installations are running on a virtual machine.
    (virtual box and Strato V-Server)

      Yes me and most of my clients I say "most", because only 30% of my customers use G-Web, 90% use Outlook.

      Is there anybody who can use it without error.
      Its no problem for me.
      I dont use it too.
      Its for test only.
      I thought I would help you to fix problems.
      I thought you should not deliver a software with problems.
      Its your decision.

        Unfortunatly the syn problem in Outlook persists in Version 2025.01.1, and if you enable the cache mode in Outlook you will not see appointments of shared calendars, if you disable the cache mode it works.

        I do not think that this is an Outlook problem, we also manage Exchange Servers for customers and there are no sync issues when using the cache mode.

        This seems to be a problem which is still not completely solved.

          nettania Question, do you have an idea, why I see the same issue with M365 only in caching mode?

            WalterH Have you tried to delete the profile and than to recreate it? In my expierience this helps in most situations (esspecially when the search index is corrupted).

              nettania We only deleted the .OST file, but this did not solved the issue.
