  • [SOLVED] Inbox subfolders inaccessible from Web UI on new / vanilla install

spiffman192 You need to provide a bit more info for the community to offer help.

The latest ISO dates from 15/04/24, have you applied all the updates to today's releases. Supply a list of installed modules so we know what versions of everything you are running.

Are you running Community or Supported version?

Are you running in a hypervisor, if so which one?

Have you tried different browsers?

My Grommunio servers were built off the same 15/04/24 Appliance ISO and I do not, and have not experienced the reported issue. My gut feeling is it might be browser related, so perform a browser cache delete (especially if you have performed a full update from within the admin console since installation) and try again, or try another browser to see if that helps.

Yes, I worked my way down the Console Interface, updating the system immediately before running the Setup Wizard. Here's a list of current state. (If there's a better way to pull the info, let me know):

    grom:~ # rpm -qa gromox grommunio-index libexmdbpp0
    grommunio-index-1.0.13.gfe3eb6b-lp155.71.1.x86_64
    gromox-2.31.40.gc6173b2-lp155.17.1.x86_64
    libexmdbpp0-1.11.2.259948f-lp155.30.1.x86_64

    Community

Mister2 Are you running in a hypervisor, if so which one?

    Proxmox 8.2.4

Mister2 Have you tried different browsers?

    Yes, Chrome, Edge, Firefox.

Yeah, mine too. So I even spun up a VM with Ubuntu Desktop to try from a clean workstation. Still doesn't work from the VM. Everything works fine from Outlook. It's just when I use the Webapp that it does this. Permissions issue somehow?

Doe you try to contact Grommunio with another computer and different browsers? Also maybe helpful could be Ctrl+Shift+R between, if something with the browser is maybe wrong, etc. If you are not sure about the browsers you can try the DeskAPP to see, if the results are the same.

Thanks Andy. I set up a new desktop VM to test with Firefox, same response.

I hadn't tried the deskapp, so that's a good suggestion. I just downloaded and tried that path, same response. That was to the testbed I deployed this morning with the account already accessed. I'm going re-deploy everything and give it another try from the top.

So an update on this, the Deskapp had the same issue. I rebuilt the Grommunio VM from scratch, and the problem persisted. I the discovered it is only an issue if I create more than one sub-folder under inbox. Weird.

So if I create one sub-folder, everything is happy. More than one, and I'm unable to access any folders under Inbox.

Another update. I downloaded the offline 2023.11.3 iso, and installed on a clean VM. I then did NOT run the updates at the console prior to running the setup wizard. Surprisingly, this did not exibit the issue I was experiencing and allowed me to create multiple subfolders successfully under the Inbox, logoff and log back in without issue. I was also able to create additional users and not have the problem. I even ran the updates from the console and didn't have issues.

Just to double-check, I used the same ISO on a new VM, and this time I DID run the updates from the console prior to running the setup wizard. This time, the problem was repeated. A new new user that would have multiple folders created under the inbox would not be able to access them under the inbox after logging out and back in.

There seems to be an issue with the current updates on NEW deployments. Let me know anyone needs additional information. I at least have a workaround for the issue now.

I can confirm your experience. Also installed the latest build, where subfolders in the webclient are not working. Currently installing 2023.11.3-Build4.2 to see if I get it working.

Update: 2023.11.3-Build4.2 did not work. Like you I had to use the grommunio-offline.x86_64-2023.11.3-Build5.1.install.iso

It updates itself during the first setup so you will end up with the same version.

Update: While I was able to get subfolders to display in the web client, the Outlook App does not work with ActiveSync on the offline image. bummer!

hansd Outlook App does not work with ActiveSync

          it is currently not supportef.

Update: I was able to make the subfolders appear in the web client using the grommunio.x86_64-latest.install.iso.

Using developer tool in the browser i saw this

is the outlook app (mapi) not supported when using the "grommunio.x86_64-latest.install.iso" ?

I mean the Outlook app on mobile phone.

                WalterH

I tried it now and it seems to work for me.
I guess the app is using MapiHTTP.

Which settings did you mean here?

                  weasee
nevermind - I found it - In grommunio web email, the Settings button at the top right.

                  Thank you!
